The Man Behind the Camera
Rich moved to Brookside Estates 27 years ago with his wife, Jen. They immediately fell in love with the neighborhood’s quiet, secluded, and safe setting—while still being close to everything they need. Today, they have two grown sons and two indoor cats, Margaret and Riley.
Both Margaret and Riley were originally strays. With a little love and care, Rich and Jen were able to give them a home. Helping animals has always been close to their hearts, and over the years, they have cared for many neighborhood strays, often feeding them from their beautiful back porch.
And that back porch is where much of Rich’s photography magic happens!
Rich has always had a love for the arts. He graduated from Ohio State University with a major in oil painting and drawing, along with a minor in printmaking and photography. During his time on campus, he even helped restore the Burkhart Murals, which can be seen today in Stillman Hall.
Rich has been retired for 22 years after a long career with the U.S. Geological Survey, where he served as Chief of Publications. After retirement, he explored a variety of hobbies, but photography was the one that truly stuck.
Today, Rich especially enjoys photographing the wildlife that visits his backyard, as well as the beautiful landscapes of Pawleys Island, one of his favorite vacation destinations.

The Man on the Bike
Frank is the kind of neighbor every street hopes for!
A long time Columbus resident Frank spent 34 years as a building plans examiner for the city of Columbus and was an industrial designer by trade.
These days he enjoys, riding his bike around the area and appreciates the safety and easy access to nearby trails often heading out with friends. While Oreo is his loyal sidekick, apparently bike rides are one adventure best left to Frank alone-there’s a good story to that!
Frank is also a man of many hidden talents. He creates beautiful stained glass pieces keeps a thriving garden and bakes treats that often make their way to lucky neighbors.
He’s deeply committed to serving others through volunteering and has been a long time participant in a lung cancer support group. One of the best pieces of advice he ever received came from his late wife when she encouraged him to get checked for cancer. Thank goodness he listened! After 32 rounds of radiation and several surgeries, the doctors say they got it all.
A lifelong learner Frank is tech savvy and even started camping at 71 proving curiosity has no age limit.
